* Researchers Finger 'Generation Gamma' (Gen G) as Coming Next From Year 2040 - 2054

By Our Reporter

With the arrival of the new year, a new generation is officially on the horizon: They are called Generation Beta, Gen Beta for short.

Gen Beta is defined as individuals born between 2025 and 2039. Most members of this generation are expected to live well into the next century known as 22nd century, according to social researcher and futurist, Mark McCrindle.

According McCrindle, this new Generational cohort, Gen Beta are the successor to the current Generation Alpha (Gen Alpha) and Generation Z (Gen Z). Generation Beta, the research finding reveals, will arrive the world in this new year 2025 starting on New Year day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025. These individuals will navigate and shape digital landscapes we can scarcely imagine today.

Generation Beta being the successor of Gen Alpha (those born between 2010-2024), which came after Gen Z (1996-2010 generation), and the millennial generation (1981-1996), will change the world as we know it today. Infact, they represent the children of younger millennials and older Gen Zers.

This newest demographic population called Generation Beta and set to make its entrance into the world, comprises of children born between this January 2025 and year 2039. They are expected to constitute 16 per cent of the global population by 2035, with many of them likely to see the dawn of the 22nd century, according to social researcher, Mark McCrindle, who is often credited with defining the generational labels.

Generation Beta follows a naming convention that started with Generation Alpha, using the Greek alphabet to signify a new era in human history.

The 'Beta babies' as they are being called, will grow up in an era that is characterized by unprecedented technological integration into daily life.

According to the emerging research enquiry an Australian social an analysis organization led by a human generational expert, Mark McCrindle, in his blog post, the new generation coming on board will likely be the first generation to experience "autonomous transportation at scale, wearable health technologies, and immersive virtual environments as standard aspects of daily life.

McCrindle further stated that a defining trait of Gen Beta children will be their longevity. Babies born in 2025, for instance, will be 76 years old when they witness the year 2101. Birth Years of Generation Beta will encompass those born between 2025 and 2039, following Generation Alpha, which spans from 2010 to 2024. They are called 'Generation Beta' because the name aligns with the Greek alphabet tradition established by Generation Alpha.

"While Generation Alpha has experienced the rise of smart technology and artificial intelligence, Generation Beta will live in an era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation are fully embedded in everyday life, education and workplaces to healthcare and entertainment".

Digital integration will be second nature to Gen Beta. While Generation Alpha has grown up with advanced technology like smart devices and artificial intelligence, members of Gen Beta will encounter AI and automation in nearly every aspect of their lives. Notably, Gen Z parents are likely to be cautious about how their children interact with the digital world. Research by McCrindle reveals that 36% of Gen Z parents, compared to 30% of millennial parents, strongly believe in limiting children’s screen time.

Challenges for Gen Beta:

While technology will be at the touch of their fingertips, the Gen Beta will also inherit a societal landscape that has several significant challenges such as climate change, urbanisation, and shifts in global population dynamics. These challenges are expected to make Gen Beta prioritize adaptability, quality and collaboration.

Despite the previous two generations being more eco-conscious than their predecessors, the Gen Beta human clan will have to take the onus to ensure that sustainability is just not a buzzword but a fundamental expectation.

"Understanding their needs, values, and preferences will be critical as we anticipate how they will shape the future of society."

Additionally, with social connection already becoming a scarce commodity in the modern world with the growth of social media platforms, Gen Beta will have to find ways to be connected in real sense.
