The Sokoto state government has captured over 300,000 vulnerable people for the federal government's conditional cash transfer.

The Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Social Investment, Hayatu Tafida, disclosed this to Nigerian Newsleader in an interview.

He said the state was still the least beneficiary of the programme nationwide.

"Before the recent exercise, we only have 18,000 beneficiaries from the state while our neighbouring states who are less in population have hundred of thousands beneficiaries.

"It was in view of this that we made our case to the relevant authorities who reasoned with us and allowed us to enrol more people into the programme.

"But cause of this, we recruited over 500 ad-hoc enumerators who did the work," he said

Tafida noted that the exercise was conducted devoid of politics as directed by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

"The beneficiaries are captured irrespective of their party affiliation or geographical locations", he reiterated.

He added that the second phase of the enumeration exercise would soon kick Start in the state. NNL.
