Alhaji Mahdi Aliyu Wamakko, the 40 years old son of Sokoto's former governor and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has been turbanned as the Yariman Wamakko in Sokoto state.

Others turbanned also include, Alhaji Sadat Mohammad as Shattiman Wamakko, Alhaji Mika'ilu Bello, Dan'Iya Wamakko, Alhaji Mukthar Jibrin Wamakko as Mainan Wamakko, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Audu Wamakko as Tafidan Wamakko and Habibu Dan Galadima as Dan Majen Wamakko.

Delivering his welcome remarks at the event, Chairman of Wamakko local government, Hon. Umar Ahmad Dundaye expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for making the day a reality, just as he prayer that Almighty Allah should grant those turbaned the wisdom to contribute effectively to the development of not only their community, Wamakko local government but to humanity in general.

Speaking in his goodwill message, State Minister of Works, Bello Goronyo said the crowd at the event is a testament that those to be turbanned are people of proven integrity.

Agreeing with that assertion, Ambassador Abubakar Shehu Wurno appealed to all those to be honoured to see it as a stepping stone towards more responsibility.

Addressing those turbaned, Sokoto state governor, Ahmed Aliyu represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Mohammed Bello Sifawa thanked the District Head (Baraden Wamakko) of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Barade for finding those to be turbanned worthy of such an honour.

The Governor further urged them to live above board saying their recognition is a call to more service.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion included, Sokoto State APC leader and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sokoto State chairman of APC, Alhaji Haruna Adiya, Jarman Sokoto, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, Hon. Ahmed Kalambaina, member House representative, Wamakko/Kware federal constituency, several other national and state lawmakers, top political figures from across the state, local government chairmen, youth as well as women groups.

The colorful event was marked with display of several cultural activities, including the traditional Dubar, Horse play, Camel play, traditional wrestling, boxing and blacksmithing creativity amongst others. NNL.
