The name, WIKE, has assumed reprehensible meaning for some peccable Nigerians. They associate it with “TROUBLE.” Wike’s political life has been an open book since 2015 when he became governor of Rivers State. He shares his feelings and thoughts on issues with remarkable tour de force. Unarguably, the man has delineated himself very clearly among Nigerian politicians as courageous, candid, frank open, blunt, forthright and undiplomatic, and has refused to give up on those things that would correct Nigeria’s downward trajectory even though he has been intensely misjudged, misunderstood, vilified and denigrated. His stance on how Nigeria can make real progress often puts him at odds with some Nigerians who appear indifferent to the country’s social, economic and political conundrum. He is, unarguably, the loudest voice of political rectitude in Nigeria today.

He’d try to prove that he’s the best, that with him, you cannot go wrong. He would even dress suggestively to show you some concrete evidence. It’s all about bragging about his sexual prowess and he doesn’t stint on apparatus.

Oyibo Victor Chukwu, Owelle of Nkanu, had a presence. He could not enter a place or leave without people noticing that a man of stature visited, even when he did not utter a word. He was robust in the true sense of the word - in physique, in pulchritude, in rhetoric, and in self-assuredness.

Ondo is one of Nigeria’s most enlightened states. It is, perhaps, side-by-side with Oyo, one of the most significant political bellwethers of the South-West. Apart from Olusegun Agagu’s four-year spell as governor, that state has maintained its progressive credentials in the last 24 years. But that illustrious tradition has fallen on bad times.

WHAT CAUSED THE CIVIL WAR: Igbo envy and hatred have been common historical phenomena in Nigeria. The civil war of the 60s was caused by other tribes in Nigeria becoming paranoid about the rapid upwardly movement of the ‘bush tribe' of the lower Niger that caught up swiftly and blazed ahead of them in every sphere of national endeavour.
