Over thirty support groups under the auspices of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from North West have endorsed the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi as the speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
Besides, the groups demands and appealed for the zoning of Speakership position to the North Central in the interest of peace, justice and equity in the Party.
The coalition group made their position known during a press briefing with journalists led by the National Coordinator of the Coalition of APC Northern Groups, Adamu M. Abdullahi, in Kano State.
He noted that Nigeria, today, needed a team player like Gagdi as the 10th Speaker of the House of Representatives, to build on the achievement of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing speaker.
According to the coalition group, Gagdi who is a Reps member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency in Plateau state, has the qualities and ability to carry all lawmakers along in spite of their political divide. The group also said that his track records of robust debates, insightful and constructive arguments on the floor of the house, were among the facts They said a lot of first-timers will be coming into the House of Reps, hence, a perfect team player and an experienced leader would therefore be needed as the House Speaker to ensure stability and good leadership.
The statement further added that, Gagdi will be a perfect fit for the job as the country's next speaker because of his long legislative experience.
"We've studied the lawmaker closely by monitoring his progression and development in the House of for more than decade. Gagdi has proven himself as a leader and a legislator par excellent, and of great repute and stature, going by the numerous and people oriented bills he has single- handedly sponsored and pushed forward in the House",.
The group further described him as not only a core party player, a loyalists and competent, tested representative of proven integrity, honesty and experience. NNL.
