A coalition of political and socio-economic groups in Bauchi has called on former senator, Adamu Ibrahim Gumba, to declare his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, describing him as the most suitable candidate to succeed Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
The call was made during a press conference addressed by Malam Danlami Danfulani, Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta of Dass, under the auspices of the Kuyambanan Bauchi Campaign Organization.
Danfulani, who spoke on behalf of several groups including youth, women, artisans, traders and professionals, said the decision followed extensive consultations and assessment of the state’s political and developmental needs.
While commending the incumbent governor for what he described as visible achievements in infrastructure and human development, the groups noted that sustaining such progress requires a capable and experienced successor.
According to him, Gumba possesses the leadership qualities, administrative experience and integrity needed to consolidate on the gains recorded by the current administration.
“Senator Gumba is a man of proven capacity who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people, irrespective of differences,” he said.
He highlighted Gumba’s track record in public service, including his roles in the civil service, Nigeria Customs Service, as well as his tenure as Head of Civil Service, Commissioner and two-term senator.
The groups appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the electorate to support their call, expressing confidence that Gumba would provide continuity and take the state to greater heights if elected. NNL.
