Civil society organisations in Bauchi State have joined the global community to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, urging stronger commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The Executive Directors Forum of Civil Society Organisations, in a statement signed by its PRO, Nasir Shuaibu, described women as the backbone of society, driving progress in families, governance, education, healthcare, and economic development.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls, emphasizing that empowering women is central to sustainable development.

It also called on government institutions, community leaders, development partners, and civil society actors to create opportunities for women and girls to thrive without discrimination.

Similarly, the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), Bauchi State Chapter, highlighted women’s role in improving family health, nutrition, and child care.

The group called for increased investments in maternal and child nutrition, healthcare, and economic empowerment to ensure stronger communities.

Both organisations encouraged stakeholders and the public to use the occasion to renew commitments to advancing women’s rights, leadership, and opportunities. NNL.
