Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, the acting Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has said it's not possible for the federal government alone to create employment for every single Nigerian.

He explains that this is why the private sector and other tiers of government must contribute their quota in the fight against unemployment in the country.

Mallam Fikpo who spoke in a keynote address through the Sokoto State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Eunice Danmalam, while flagging off Environmental Beautification Training Scheme ( EBTS) in the State, noted that the venture, will, aside from contributing positively to the development of Nigerian youths, also assist the finance of the nation.

He further explained that the NDE is formulated on a four-core approach designed towards tackling the multifaceted problems of unemployment in Nigeria.

While adding that the EBTS is in line with the federal government's policy on the Environmental Renewal of habitats particularly our towns and cities, Mallam Fikpo appealed to Nigerians to embrace skills.

According to him, one of the four core approaches include the Special Public Works Programme which was charged with the responsibility of addressing the problems through transient jobs and skills acquisition such as the EBTS that trains unemployed youths on Hard and Soft Landscaping, flowering as well as the application of Plaster of Paris (POP)

"Today, we are flagging off then2022 edition of this training in which forty-six (46) persons, two (2) persons owe each LGA across the twenty-three (23) LGAs of Sokoto State. The training duration is there (3) months. May I use this opportunity to inform our selected beneficiaries that this training is free, at no cost to them, stipends will be paid during the training and at the end, certificates will be issued to them"

The DG of NDE further appealed to other unskilled and unemployed persons all over Nigeria to embrace the programs of the NDE so as to realize their desire for self-dependence. NNL.
