A kano state woman and mother of two identified as Hauwa, has allegedly matched her two children to death, after she was said to have been jilted by her husband who married another wife.
The slain innocent kids were Yusuf (5-year-old) and the Zahra’u (3-year-old).The tragedy reportedly happened at the weekend, specifically on Saturday morning in a village known as Diso within the Gwale Local Government area of Kano State.
An Uncle of the deceased children, Sadiq Haruna Aminu, said his brother’s wife and mother of the deceased children had been living in envy ever since his brother married another wife, leading to her killing her own children.
The incident, Aminu said, took place when Hauwa's husband was away and in his new wife’s place. According to Aminu, his brother’s eldest wife, Hauwau called him on phone in the morning, stating that there was an issue at their residence. Upon his arrival, he met the lifeless bodies of his children.
“She beat the children and used a knife to cut them. Her sister’s daughter (10-year-old) who was living with them was also another victim but she survived with a cut on her hand and she is the witness to the incident,” Sadiq stated.
The entire district have been in great shock and mourning over the unfortunate incident. Also, the ward head of Diso, Ahmad Bello said they were all still in a state of shock following the tragic occurrence.
The ward head however condemned Hauwa's bloody action, saying she should have taken the matter to court instead of taking the laws into her hands and killing her innocent children.
The police public relations officer Kano command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, has already confirmed the incident. He said the suspect arrested by the police in kano, and that investigation had already commenced.
He revealed that the Commissioner of Police of the Kano State Command had ordered that the case be transferred to the criminal investigation unit for thorough enquiry. NNL.
