Concerned by the devastating effects of flood that swept through over five Local government Areas and several communities in Nasarawa state, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, last week Wednesday, donated and distributed relief materials worth millions of naira to the flood victims in the state.
Al-Makura who is representing Nasarawa South Senatorial district in the National Assembly, donated and distributed relief materials to the flood disaster victims in communities across the four Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
The items distributed included 109 bags of Sugar, Rice and 109 cartons of Macaroni, Supergetti, Maggi, Indomie and cartons of kings vegetables oil each to the affected flood victims in Old Awe town, Tunga, Jangwa and Rukubi in Awe and Doma Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
In a similar development, Senator Al-Makura, same Wednesday, flagged-off the distribution of 130 motorcycles across his constituency as part of his contribution to cushion the effects of the flood disaster in the area.
Distributing the relief materials and motorcycles donation supervised by the Border Community Development Agency (BCDA) across the affected communities, Senator Al-Makura, said the relief materials and motorcycles were to cushion the effects of the flood and bring succour to the victims.
The federal Lawmaker who observed with dismay the level of devastation caused by the flood, called for prompt donations from both the federal, state, donor agencies and individuals, to come to the aid of the victims to alleviate their sufferings.
Speaking earlier, a representative of the Border Community Development Agency (BCDA), Tanko Abdullahi, said the items donated and distributed were to be used to assist the victims of the recent flood in the state, and advised those in charge of the materials to ensure equitable distribution of the items to the affected victims.
Receiving the items on behalf of the victims in Awe, Tunga and Rukubi in Doma, the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar Umar, Sarkin Tunga, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Galadima, and Adamu Alhassan, appreciated the lawmaker for the kind gesture he extended to the victims.
The monarchs therefore called on public spirited individuals and corporate organisations to emulate the gesture of Senator Tanko Al-Makura to reduce the untold hardship of the flood victims. NNL.
