Following the Tuesday morning gun attacks and abduction of one military personnel by some yet to be identified gunmen, the Defence Headquarters in Abuja has vowed to hunt down the attackers and abductors and bring them immediately to justice.
The Director, Defence Information, Major General Benjamin Sawyerr, made this commitment on Tuesday shortly after the news of the attack was made public. He also confirmed the story of the attack and stated that the security forces including troops of I Division Nigerian Army and elements of the Nigerian Air Force are already on the hot trail of the attackers to bring them to face the consequences of the risk they took.
While giving an account of what actually happened, the Defence Spokesman, General Sawyer, narrated that the “Bandits at about 0215am 24 August 2021 sneaked into the large expanse of the NDA and went straight to the officer’s Quarters where they killed 2 brave officers who fought them to resist abduction. 2 other officers were reportedly abducted.
“The Commandant NDA and staff working in synergy with HQ 1 Div and the NAF are out tracking and on search and rescue mission. It is worthy to note that the Nigerian Defence Academy is a training institution and a citadel of academy excellent.
“The attack by the bandits must have been well planned following their aimed target area within the NDA permanent site complex. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the rescue of the 2 officers abducted and to also track down and clear the bandits. We are in touch with NDA and as events unfold the press will be adequately briefed. “We urge Nigerians and members of the Press to support the Armed Forces to put an end to this menace,” he said.
On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, news broke out that in the early hours of today, that bandits have attacked the Nigerian Defence Academy complex located in Afaka, Kaduna State and killed two officers while abducting military personnel. NNL.
