The 8th Emenite/Enugu Ladies Golf Open Championship which kicked off in Enugu on Thursday has successfully ended today, Sunday, August 29, 2021.
The national Golf event was held at the Golf Event Center, Enugu Sports Club, between Thursday, August 26 to Sunday, August 29, 2021. It was earlier declared open last Thursday by the Enugu State Governor, Hon. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi but represented by his Deputy, Hon. (Mrs) Cecilia Ezeilo
While declaring the event open, governor Ugwuanyi speaking through his deputy, emphasized the need for sporting activities. He said the "essence of golfing cannot be over-emphasized. You can see how good and healthy you all are looking. I pray Almighty God that from this zone, we are going to have another Tigerwood", Ugwanyi wished.
The governor however thanked the organizers for putting together the event.
Also speaking during the inauguration of the event on Thursday, President of the Lady Golfers of Nigeria, Susan Cole Kotas, said the national event was an event that drew Golfers from different States of the country to the Coal City of Enugu. She thanked the organizers of the event and wished the participants a successful outing.
Dignitaries and other golfers who were present at the event, were the Zonal President (East), Diserr Leghomo, past president of Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria, Princess Joyce Nule, Past Secretary, L.G.A.N, Sumbo Oshile, Lady Captain Enugu Golfers, Dr. Ada Ikehi, Past Lady Captains of the club, Barrister Ethel Ayaji, Dr Amaka Okoye, Chairman of the Enugu State College of Education (Technical), Enugu, Ambassador Fidelia Njeze, and other Male Golfers, among others.
The highlight of the occasion was the Tee shots by the Deputy Governor, Hon (Mrs) Cecilia Ezeilo, Ambassador Fidelia Njeze, Ethel Ayaji, , Barrister Nwosu, among others.
The four days event however ended today, Sunday, August 29, 2021, on a successful note. NNL.
