In the wake of the unexpected and tragic loss of Herbert Wigwe, the esteemed former leader of Access Bank, our hearts weigh heavy as we reflect on the profound impact of this extraordinary individual.

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet…” (Matthew 24: 6) .

Put the Steve Oronsaye Report on hold. We need to create a new Commission urgently. The tentative should be the Nigeria Bribe Collection Commission. There are multiple reasons for the urgency in setting up the Commission, but one should suffice for now - the President should have nothing to do with regulating bribery.

Show me a woman who does not believe in love and I will show you a liar. Every woman wants to be loved. We all long for that indescribable feeling that keeps our heads in the cloud. That feeling that makes you feel that you and your man are the only ones on the surface of the earth and when he touches you, you feel this tingling sensation running down your spine. His voice does things to your system, etcetera etcetera.

When, on February 2023, Dr. Stella Chinweudo Ekwueme stepped into the prestigious Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET), average onlookers saw no more than a mere female academic trying her luck at tertiary education facility administration. Little did anyone knew that before our very eyes was quintessential Administrator of high repute, with uncompromising determination to revolutionize the institution. Twelve months down the line, she is already attracting the envy of her contemporaries.

In today's political landscape, it is a rarity to find a leader who upholds the principles of meritocracy, justice, and fairness in the governance of a state. However, in Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah has (so far) demonstrated an uncommon affinity for these ideals in his approach to appointments and his handling of administrative issues. His emphasis on selecting commissioners and cabinet members based on merit rather than political connections or considerations has set a new standard for governance in the state. Additionally, his objective handling of the recent complaints brought by the management of Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET) showcases his commitment to upholding justice, even if it means making difficult decisions.

SOS, it’s an emergency: Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu is in an emergency situation. The next four year of Tinubu’s administration must be regarded in law as a FORCE MAJUERE; a season of extended social and economic crisis without end.

I don’t know how it is in your part of town. But it’s been a nightmare in mine, a supposedly middle-class residential area in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital. Rolling blackouts do not begin to explain the depth of the misery. It’s been a dreadful time of rolling and erratic blackouts. Like surfing an angry wave, if you understand what I mean.

Last week, I asked the question which life we would love to live – biblical Abraham’s or Lazarus’s – and it drew a lot of comments. I must admit that it isn’t everyone who can connect with last week’s piece, hence today’s title of the deep calling out to the deep, which is taken from Psalm 42, written by the Sons of Korah. As the deer pants after the streams of water, so does the average Nigerian today pants after essential commodities, foodstuffs especially, for sustenance. As the Sons of Korah looked up to God for help and deliverance, so do poverty-stricken Nigerians cry unto their government and religious leaders for reprieve and succour.

Disparity of roles between ecclesiastics and politicians are generally expected to translate to differences in values, lifestyles and creeds, but this pattern has been disrupted and bridged in Nigeria by materialism. Moral disconnects, lust and insatiability for money, wealth, fame, influence and power have conspired to bring the men of God to the level of politicians. This is evident in the Pentecostal ministries where some founding pastors and general overseers {GOs} no longer exhibit ascetic disposition and restraints from material allures.

The social media space has been fouled with jaundiced opinions and spurious accounts by glory seekers since the successful inauguration of the Geometric Power plant in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State, on February 26, 2024.

On Monday, March 6, 2024, during a highly successful United Nations (UN) dialogue on "The Africa We Want and the United Nations We Need," the Imo State experience in pursuit of peace and security was brought centre stage by Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji. Using Governor Uzodimma's successes through the Ministry of Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs as a case study, Ugorji, who was the pioneer Commissioner for the ministry, made enlightening contributions to discussions within the "Peace, Security and Defense" session of the conference.
