It is exactly 20 days since the world lost one of the greatest football talents in Diego Armando Maradona to the inevitable clutches of death. Eulogies of immeasurable quantities and qualities poured in drove. Every sector of human endeavor testified that a comet flashed off the milky way. Historical tributes painted his life and times in pages of international tabloids.
In 1999, I returned to Nigeria from London where I had lived for a decade, armed with my biography of Major-General Aguiyi-Ironsi. I needed to have the book introduced to the reading publicl.
Sometime in the early 1990s, I received a call from the Office of the Nigerian Permanent Mission to the United Nations informing me that the Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, wanted me to come and see him at his New York Office. The office had gotten my telephone number from the publisher of a Nigerian-owned magazine where I made occasional contributions.
To have Nigeria restructured, and to have an Igbo President in 2023, are two things very dear to the Igbo at this point in time. The Igbo want Nigeria to be restructured, and they also want a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023.

Barely one year after Mr Chimaobi Nwaogu of Amaise Umuokereke-Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State was gruesomely and extra-judicially murdered by Corporal Johnson Ajayi, his kinsman, Mr. Onyedikachi Nwogu of Umuokoro, Umuokpo has been senselessly and gruesomely killed by Insp. Robinson Otobong of Akwa Ibom Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Acting Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Professor Amstrong Aduku Idachaba, is presently on the public spot for wielding the big stick against broadcast stations which his Commission found to be on the wrong side of the NBC's regulatory code. Idachaba, a professor of Mass Communication, University teacher, a former Director of Monitoring and Broadcast Policy and Research in the Commission, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the NBC in February 2020. In this exclusive interview with the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Newspapers, CELESTINE OKAFOR, on Friday in his office at the Commission's Abuja headquarters, Professor Idachaba made interesting revelations about the NBC and the broadcasting operators in Nigeria.
